Some “Basic” goat facts:

 

·         Male Goat: Buck, or a buckling if under 1 year of age.

·         Female Goat: Doe, or a doeling if under 1 year of age.

·         Goat gestation: Approximately 150 days. (Possible three kiddings every two       years)

·         Heat Cycle: 21 days. Approximate weight of Boer goat at birth: 9 lbs

·         Average weight of mature doe: 150 to 200 lbs.

·         Average weight of mature buck: 225 to 275 lbs.

·         The goat (Capra hircus) is related to the deer. It is a browser, not a grazer.        That is, it would rather reach up than down for food.
